Welcome to Moorpark Unified School District!

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Moorpark Unified’s Superintendent, and I take incredible pride in the students, staff and families who make our award-winning district so warm and welcoming. From our youngest learners in preschool and TK to our Adult School, we embrace a shared mission of educational excellence by “connecting with every student, every day.”

We recognize the academic and social-emotional success of our students takes a collective effort, and Moorpark Unified is exceedingly fortunate to be part of a tight-knit community that strongly supports our mission and the students we serve. It was only by working together that we were able to weather the pandemic and return last year to in-person learning before any other district in Ventura County. Our hard work and commitment to providing the very best in education for our students earned Moorpark Unified the California Pivotal Practice Award in 2022. The statewide award was only possible because of the support of our families and the entire community.

Our district remains focused on the future. To help bridge the transition for our students from high school to a college or a career, Moorpark High School offers a rich variety of Advanced Placement college-prep courses and exposure to a wide array of career pathway opportunities. Moorpark High School courses include Hospitality & Tourism and Manufacturing & Design pathways, which complement existing Engineering Technology, Business, Health Sciences, Performing Arts (Theater, Vocal and Instrumental), Games & Simulations, Education, Visual & Media Arts (Studio and Technology), and AVID pathways. In addition, the High School at Moorpark College allows students to earn both their high school diploma and college credits at the same time.

We are extremely proud of our award-winning schools, all of which offer outstanding academic and extracurricular activities to foster a love for learning in every subject. Some of these include Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology’s STEM program, Walnut Canyon Art and Technology Magnet School’s cultural and performing arts program and the music programs at Chaparral and Mesa Verde middle schools. There are many, many more.

This school year promises to be full of opportunities to learn and grow for us and our students. We remain committed to continuing our tradition of ensuring academic excellence through highly effective teaching and leadership, innovative 21st century learning environments, and connecting with every student, every day. Whether in the classroom, on the stage or on the athletic field, Moorpark students are fully engaged in their educational experience and have the continued support of our wonderful staff and community! Please join us as this journey continues today and into the future.

Yours in education,

Dr. Kelli Hays
