Behavior Support Services
Mission Statement:
The mission of Behavior Support Services is to provide positive behavioral support to the students, staff, and families in the Moorpark Unified School District. We use data-based decisions and a continual review of our evidenced-based interventions to support student growth and promote student independence.
As well-trained professionals with expertise in behavioral principles, we work to provide quality behavior services and support to schools, programs, and students in the Moorpark Unified School District. Using a team approach to build capacity, we provide training and coaching to school staff in delivering behavior interventions to support individual students. Behavior consultation may focus on the identification and implementation of behavior supports and/or instructional strategies (e.g., development of a system for collecting and analyzing behavior data, coaching and/or modeling behavior strategies, providing professional development). Using evidence-based practices and data-driven interventions promotes successful learning environments as well as individual student growth. A key element to success involves collaboration with other school staff and parents to develop interventions and teach appropriate behaviors with a goal of generalizing skills across settings. Special education staff are provided with training and consultation in applied behavior analysis so that student programming is systematic and teams can make informed data-based decisions to promote student success in the learning environment. Working collaboratively with school teams, students learn essential skills for success!
