Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)

Welcome to the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) page!

At Moorpark Unified School District, we are dedicated to promoting the mental health and well-being of all students. Through the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), we aim to continue providing resources, services, and support that help students succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. We recognize that mental health is just as vital as physical health, and we are committed to supporting all students in their mental health and well-being.

Our Mission:

The Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) aims to improve the mental health of students in our school by continuing to provide access to vital services and fostering a supportive environment for emotional well-being. We believe that prioritizing mental health empowers students to succeed both academically and in life. CYBHI emphasizes early intervention, resilience building, and ensuring all students feel supported and safe within their school community.

Key Goals of CYBHI:

  • Accessible Services for All Students: Continue offering mental health services such as counseling and support groups for students, as well as providing resources for families.
  • Early Intervention and Prevention: Identify students who may need support early on and offer services that help prevent mental health challenges from affecting their academic and social development.
  • Stigma Reduction: Creating an open and understanding school environment where mental health is prioritized, and students feel comfortable seeking help when needed.
  • Collaborative Approach: Working with teachers, school counselors, parents, and the community to create a comprehensive system of care that supports students at all stages of their emotional and behavioral health journey.
  • Student Empowerment: Providing students with the tools, strategies, and support they need to manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges that may arise during their educational experience.

Why is CYBHI Important for Our Schools?

  • Promoting Academic Success: Mental health and academic performance are closely linked. Addressing behavioral health challenges, we help students stay focused, engaged, and successful in school.
  • Building Resilience: By providing students with the support they need, we equip them with the skills to cope with life’s challenges, building resilience that will benefit them throughout their lives.
  • Supporting Families: CYBHI is not only about helping students but also empowering families to understand and support their children’s mental health needs. Our services provide families with the resources they need to create healthy, supportive home environments.
  • Creating a Safe, Supportive School Environment: We are dedicated to ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and supported in their school community.

CYBHI Services Available for Students:

The CYBHI program helps schools continue to offer wellness support for students. Through this initiative, schools can generate funding from insurance (Medi-Cal and commercial) to continue to provide wellness staff and programs—at no cost to families.

Families may have questions about how the program works. Thanks to the Ventura County Office of Education, the following videos provide helpful answers. Video content is available in English, Spanish, and Mixteco.
