Vanessa Vega Named Principal at Peach Hill Academy
(Moorpark, California) May 3, 2024—The Moorpark Unified School District is pleased to announce that Mrs. Vanessa Vega will assume the duties of principal for Peach Hill Academy effective July 1, 2024. Mrs. Vega will replace Ms. Vicky Yasenchok who accepted a position in another district.
“Many Peach Hill families know Mrs. Vega as a dedicated and caring teacher who goes above and beyond for her students. These are the same attributes we’ve seen in her as an administrator at Chaparral Middle School,” Superintendent Dr. Kelli Hays said. “Ms. Vega's compassion, leadership skills and ongoing relationships with the Peach Hill community will foster a smooth and successful transition when she begins her principal position in the Fall."
Mrs. Vega, an educator for 14 years, began her career in Moorpark Unified in 2016 as a special education teacher at Peach Hill Academy.
“Peach Hill teachers and staff have provided my own children with an outstanding and supportive learning environment,” said Vega, whose son is a current student at Peach Hill. Her daughter also attended the elementary school. “In my six years as a teacher at Peach Hill, I grew and learned so much working alongside incredible teachers and staff. I am honored to return to Peach Hill as principal.”
She was promoted to the position of assistant principal at Chaparral Middle School in 2022. It was a role, Mrs. Vega said, she “cherished.”
“Chaparral Middle School allowed me to begin my administration career with a talented team led by Mrs. Glassman,” Mrs. Vega said. “To be an effective administrator, I learned the power of teamwork—to build a sense of belonging during students’ middle school years.”
During her time in Moorpark Unified, Mrs. Vega has been active in many leadership roles, including program coordination in the areas of curriculum and instruction, special education and attendance.
She has also been involved with creating school safety and positive discipline plans, as well as state testing, English Language Development, social emotional learning and promoting school culture and connectedness.
She holds an Administrative Services Credential from California State University, Channel Islands and earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, San Bernardino.
She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and a credential in Special Education at California State University, Northridge.
Mrs. Vega lives in Ventura County with her husband, Ricky, and their two children.`
