(Moorpark, California) September 16, 2025—Small businesses power the community, and now Moorpark Adult School is helping to power small businesses.

Moorpark Adult School is launching a new free course this fall designed to help community members grow their small businesses.

Get Your Small Business Online: Skills for Today’s Entrepreneurs begins October 13 and runs through December 10 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. The first and last classes will be held in person, with the remainder of the sessions offered online.

Take your business idea from concept to reality in this hands-on course designed for aspiring small business owners. Participants will learn how to identify their ideal customer, create a website, explore e-commerce and use powerful tools like SEO, email marketing and social media to grow their brand online.

With step-by-step guidance and one-on-one support, students will set goals, track milestones and build a strong digital presence to help their businesses succeed.

The course builds on the success of Moorpark Adult School’s Computer Basics program and is made possible through the Economic Development Collaborative’s Upskill program, funded by a $5 million state grant secured by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin.

The curriculum was developed by Ventura County-based Women’s Economic Ventures and is available in both English and Spanish.

Principal Sean Abajian said the course was created in direct response to community needs.

“I want to develop curriculum that is relevant to the community. We offer this course in both Spanish and English, and we have seen tremendous interest in the Spanish course,” Abajian said. “This is about providing our small businesses and those aspiring to be small businesses the opportunity to build a website, which can feel intimidating but is something that anyone can do. We want to help make it possible. It’s more than getting people online, it’s about launching their dreams and helping to create the next generation of small business owners.”

As an introduction to these opportunities, community members are invited to attend How to Get Your Business Online (and Out There!), a free workshop presented by SCORE Ventura and hosted at Moorpark Adult School, 280 Poindexter Avenue, on Monday, September 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The session will cover the basics of setting up a website, claiming a Google Business Profile, and boosting online visibility.

The Sept. 22 workshop is free, but space is limited. To register, visit www.SCORE.org/Ventura or call (805) 204-6022.

The fall course is also free, but space is limited. To register or learn more, visit adulted.mrpk.org/register, call (805) 334-8377, or email sabajian@mrpk.org
