(Moorpark, California) August 17, 2026—Moorpark Adult School will begin its fall semester the week of Aug. 24, offering Ventura County residents career training, English language instruction and enrichment courses at low or no cost.

New this semester, Ventura County residents can enroll in Moorpark Adult School’s medical career programs tuition-free through funding from the ELL Healthcare Pathways initiative.

“We’re proud to remove the cost barrier for local residents who want to build a career in health care,” Moorpark Adult School Principal Sean Abajian said. “Whether someone is interested in one of our medical programs, wants to improve their English skills or is looking for hands-on experience in culinary arts, filmmaking or manufacturing, we want Moorpark Adult School to be a place where people can build skills that lead to new opportunities.”

Moorpark Adult School offers three online medical career programs designed to prepare students for national certification exams: Medical Billing and Coding, Pharmacy Technician and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. Medical Billing and Coding and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant program are offered in both English and Spanish. These are high-demand jobs that pay well.

Through the ELL Healthcare Pathways grant, tuition for all three programs is waived for Ventura County residents.

Students interested in filmmaking can take part in Moorpark Adult School’s award-winning Filmmaking program, which combines film study with hands-on production experience. Beginning students spend the first part of the semester studying and discussing films and episodic content before writing, filming and editing a short film of five minutes or less.

Returning and advanced students can work independently on their own film projects throughout the semester. Classes are offered in a hybrid format, with both in-person and Zoom options. Students also have access to the school’s Mac lab and Adobe Creative Suite for editing and post-production. The semester concludes with an in-person screening of student work.

The school’s Culinary Arts program provides hands-on cooking instruction while introducing students to the business side of the food and hospitality industry. Students prepare a different dish during each class while learning about entrepreneurship, restaurant operations and food-based business planning.

The course is co-taught by Chef Isabella Cisneros, a former restaurant manager at Vegiterranean Kitchen, and Chef Karina Pineda, a Moorpark Adult School Culinary Arts graduate, California Certified Food Manager and award-winning baker.

Moorpark Adult School also offers a Manufacturing and Engineering program that gives students hands-on experience using mill and lathe computer numerical control, or CNC, machines. Students learn to program and operate the precision equipment used throughout the manufacturing industry while developing practical skills for careers in the field.

English as a Second Language classes are also available for beginning and intermediate learners. Morning and evening classes are offered Monday through Thursday to accommodate different work and family schedules.

Registration is now open. Fall courses begin the week of Aug. 24 and continue through the third week of December.

Students can register at adulted.mrpk.org/register, call or text 805-334-8377, or visit Moorpark Adult School at 280 Poindexter Ave. in Moorpark, next to Chaparral Middle School.
