MUSD Names Daniel Wolowicz Director of Communications

(Moorpark, California) August 18, 2026—The Moorpark Unified School District Board of Education has named Daniel Wolowicz the district’s Director of Communications. Wolowicz has served as MUSD’s Public Information Officer since August 2022. The Board approved the title change during its Aug. 8 meeting.
As Director of Communications, Wolowicz serves as the district’s chief communications strategist and adviser on public information, community engagement and brand management. He leads districtwide communications, media relations, crisis communications, community outreach, enrollment campaigns and digital communications.
“Dan has brought a thoughtful and strategic approach to how we communicate with our families and community,” Superintendent Dr. Kelli Hays said. “He understands the importance of clear, timely communication as well as the value of sharing the stories of our schools. We’re excited to see him continue that work as Director of Communications.”
Since joining MUSD, Wolowicz’s work has earned multiple awards from the California School Public Relations Association for video and enrollment campaigns, as well as a 2026 National School Public Relations Association Award of Excellence for social media.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Moorpark Unified in this expanded role,” Wolowicz said. “Good communication connects families to what’s happening in our classrooms and across the district, builds trust and strengthens our sense of community. I’m fortunate to work alongside district leaders, Board members and principals who share that commitment as we work toward the same goal: connecting with every student, every day.”
Before joining MUSD, Wolowicz spent nearly two decades in local journalism, including serving as editor of the Moorpark Acorn and Camarillo Acorn newspapers. His journalism earned multiple California Newspaper Publishers Association awards.
Wolowicz earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Loyola Marymount University and a master’s degree in journalism and creative media from the University of Alabama.
Wolowicz said he’s looking forward to the start of the new school year and the privilege of continuing to share the stories of MUSD students and staff and the remarkable work taking place in classrooms, on the field and throughout the community.
