Wildcat News!
Principal's Message

Welcome to Walnut Canyon Performing Arts and Technology Magnet School. Our first priority is to provide a safe nurturing environment that makes school a welcome place to learn and grow.  Our staff provides an enriched curriculum that gives students visual arts, performance opportunities and technology integrated throughout the daily learning experience.  Whether it is our fine arts activities, students using crayons, glue, chalk, computers or science equipment, this is a fun place for students.  Our educational standards are also high and parent support is an integral part of each day and enriches the learning experience for every child.  Our webpage provides a window into the activities that are taking place, including photographs of the many programs and special classroom moments that occur daily, the smiles and learning “ah ha’s”, parent involvement, friendships and hard work. Please check our monthly newsletters and calendar to keep abreast of all of our activities. We enjoy sharing the Walnut Canyon Wildcat experience with you through our webpage.

While the State is going through tough budget times, we are committed to maintaining the core programs and staffing at our schools.  Many areas of our school budgets have experienced deep cuts in funding which result in fewer resources at our school sites.  Our Magnet School Grant has specific limitations on how we spend our money.  When parents ask how they can help, there are many things you can do.  First of all, stay informed about what is happening in Sacramento and the Moorpark District that effects education.  Stay involved and help in any way you can at school.  We have a very dedicated PTA board that also looks for new parents to get involved and help even if it’s for one special event during the year.  Volunteers are always needed to help during the many nightly activities that highlight our student performances and learning experiences. Consider asking your work company or local business to donate recycled or Xerox paper to classrooms and check the teacher's wish list; teachers appreciate not having to spend their own money for these supplies.

I look forward to greeting you at our school activities and encourage you to introduce yourselves to me.  If you take advantage of our wonderful after school Cultural Arts Program (CAP), Nema Pierce is the Project Director to meet.  Our staff looks forward to creating fabulous memories for you and your child.

Sincerely,
Linda D. Bowe
