Honors Placement    
Honors Placement Criteria

Program Objective:  To serve the needs of academically gifted and talented (GATE) students and other high achieving students through advanced learning opportunities providing a qualitatively differentiated curriculum, acceleration, depth and complexity in mathematics, science, language arts and history honors classes in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Honors student placement:   Students may qualify for one or more honors classes at grades 6, 7 and 8 under the following criteria

GATE Placement Criteria

Program Objective:  To serve the needs of academically gifted and talented (GATE) students through advanced learning opportunities providing a qualitatively differentiated curriculum, acceleration, depth and complexity in mathematics, science, language arts and history honors classes in grades 6, 7 and 8.

GATE student placement:  GATE students will be placed in all four honors classes as incoming 6th graders.  GATE students will be placed in at least two honors classes at 7th and 8th grade even if they do not qualify under the criteria listed below.
