"CANS FOR COPIES" COMPETITION

Our first Cans for Copies Competition was a "smashing" success.  Hundreds of recyclable cans and plastic bottles were sorted, crushed, and bagged with the assistance of Mr. De La Torre and the senior AVID students from Moorpark High School (pictured below with Mountain Meadows students).

We earned over $773 dollars. This will go a long way to help cover our photocopying costs this year. The grade level winning classes are:
 Kindergarten  Room 3  Mrs. Sheller
1st Grade  Room 19  Mrs. Tyloch
2nd Grade  Room 11  Mrs. Austin
3rd Grade  Room 10  Mrs. Glass
4th Grade  Room 24  Mrs. Deegan
5th Grade  Room 5  Mrs. Hanna

These classes have earned an extra recess with Mrs. Kelley.

Mrs. Hanna's class (seen below) is the overall school winner and will display the Recycling trophy in their classroom.

Students, parents, teachers, and staff members all worked together to make this event a huge success. Thank you to everyone! Plans are already underway for another Cans for Copies Competition in May. Start saving those recyclables.

 Health Office News
Two commonly used health office forms are now on the MUSD website for your convenience.  The "Authorization for Any Medication Taken During School Hours" form is required before any medication (prescription or over the counter) can be given at school.  The "Readmission to School of Student with Temporary Disability or Injury" is required for any student coming to school with a cast, crutches, wheelchair, stitches, sling, etc.

Click on the links above or go to
www.mrpk.org, select Student Services, then Health and Wellness to find the forms.  Printing them out for yourself will save you a trip to school to pick them up.

 Parking Lot Safety Reminders

Safety in the parking lot before and after school continues to be a concern.  Please remember the following:

 Drivers:

-Drive slowly.

-Stay to the right to drop off/pick up students.
-Pull all the way to the side gate before dropping off/picking up students.
-Do not drop off/pick up students near the front gate as this stops the flow of traffic.
-Do not allow your children to cross the parking lot by themselves.
-If you would like to get out of your vehicle to walk your child to the gate, park in a designated parking space.  Do not park in the traffic lane.
-Do not stop in front of the handicapped parking spaces.  The law requires that these spaces be accessible.
-If you need to use your cell phone, please use a hands-free device or park in a designated parking space before you dial.
Pedestrians: -Use the crosswalk to get through the parking lot.
-Wait for the crossing guard to stop traffic before crossing the parking lot.

If everyone, drivers and pedestrians, follows the rules then our parking lot will be a much safer place for all.

 Playground Safety Reminders

Please follow these important safety rules when you are on the playground:

STUDENTS: Only Mountain Meadows students may play on the playground.  Younger and older siblings who are not Mountain Meadows’ students may not play on the playground.  All students must play by Mountain Meadows’ school rules at all times.

PARENTS: Parents are welcome to walk their students to the playground, but please remember that games and equipment are for students only.  Parents are welcome to join us on Fridays for our weekly Spirit Assembly.

EVERYONE:
Please follow the directions of the Campus Aides for the safety of all of our students.
