Welcome to Chaparral Middle School!

Be Safe...Be Prepared...Be Respectful
"Become Your Best"

The Chaparral Way

 OUR SCHOOL MISSION
Chaparral Middle School is committed to equipping ALL students with the academic and social competencies needed for them to be productive members of the world in which they will live. We believe that students must be taught responsibility, how to make decisions,  and the communication skills that will be needed for them to function in a global society. Learning must occur in an environment free from prejudice and harassment, and rich in mutual respect. It is our belief, then, that we must implement programs and create conditions that maximize learning success for ALL students. We are dedicated to helping each student "become his/her best."
 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome our New Administrative Team
Chaparral is pleased to announce these recent changes/promotions to our administrative team:  Creig Nicks, who has spent 15 years at CMS - the last 9 as principal, has moved to the Moorpark School District Office as Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.  Ruby Delery, who served as Assistant Principal both here and at Moorpark High School has replaced Mr. Nicks as Principal.  Adam Wohlstattar, math teacher and coach at Moorpark High School for a number of years, is our new Assistant Principal.

Our new administrators look forward to continuing Chaparral's tradition of academic excellence.

SPRING BREAK DATES
Please note this year's Spring Break dates:  No school from Friday, April 2, through April 11.  Classes resume Monday, April 12.

Letter from the Superintendent-Feb 2010
An letter for parents from Ellen Smith, District Superintendent for Moorpark Unified School District, will be sent home with students the last week in February.  It contains important information regarding the district's response to ongoing budget reductions and plans to deal with additional cuts next year.  Please ask your child to show you the letter or find at the MUSD Distrinct Office home page (Letter from Superintendent - February 2010)

"Open Mic" Night in March

Mark your calendar!  Our annual student talent show, "Open Mic" Night this year, will be held on Friday, March 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the school auditorium.  Students and their families are invited to attend this showcase of student talent.  A nominal admission will be charged to help support programs at Chaparral.

We are very sorry to announce that the Talent Show performance for Friday, March 26, has been cancelled.  Many students worked very hard to put their acts together and we hope that we can arrange another opportunity to showcase their talents.

Fridays start at 9:40 a.m. and end at 3:00pm
Chaparral Middle School will begin at 9:40 a.m. on Fridays to allow for teacher/staff  collaboration. The district buses will run at the same time as the rest of the week; there will be campus supervision for the students who arrive prior to class starting.  Class ends at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays.
