Description:
Students may take
medication that is prescribed for them by physicians and be assisted by the
school nurse or other designated school personnel if the school district
receives:
(1) a written statement
from the physician detailing the method, amount, and time schedules for
administration of the medication and
(2) a written statement
from the parent/guardian indicating that the school district may administer
the medication as per the physician’s instructions.
A form Authorization for Medication to be Taken During School Hours may be obtained from the Health
Office or click the highlighted form name above to download/print the form. At the elementary school
level, parents should bring the medication to the Health Office at the beginning
of the school day. All medication must
be in the original labeled container.
Cough drops and over-the-counter medications are discouraged, however,
if determined necessary during the school day, there must also be
parent/guardian written authorization.
