In January 2008 the Governor declared that the State of California was in a fiscal crisis. He convened a special session of the legislature to address the state's budget shortfall and proposed mid-year cuts for all state-funded entities. His proposed 2009-2010 state budget calls for additional significant funding reductions across the board. Immediately after the governor's announcements, the Moorpark Unified School District began work to calculate the impact of the governor's budget on District revenues. The Board of Education is considering significant cuts in programs, services and personnel in anticipation of greatly reduced revenues for 2009-10.
Please know that despite the economic conditions, our staff remains committed to the well-being of every student and the excellence of MUSD's educational programs.
