  OUR SCHOOL MISSION

Chaparral Middle School is committed to equipping ALL students with the academic and social competencies needed for them to be productive members of the world in which they will live. We believe that students must be taught responsibility, how to make decisions,  and the communication skills that will be needed for them to function in a global society. Learning must occur in an environment free from prejudice and harassment, and rich in mutual respect. It is our belief, then, that we must implement programs and create conditions that maximize learning success for ALL students. We are dedicated to helping each student "become his/her best."

CHAPARRAL TEACHER HONORED BY MOORPARK CHAMBER

Diane Davenport, History teacher at Chaparral Middle School, was named Educator of the Year by the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce at its annual community awards luncheon this month.  This will be Mrs. Davenport’s last year at Chaparral as she is retiring in June so this is a very special honor for her.  Mrs. Davenport began teaching in 1988 and has guided an entire generation of young “cherubs” through the transition from elementary to middle school.

Dorene Reed, Special Education teacher at Chaparral, was also nominated for the Educator of the Year honor.  Chaparral is very proud of both these fine teachers.

For more information see Ventura County Star story.

Tdap for 6th Graders
New state law requires that all incoming 7th graders have a Tdap booster before starting school next year.  Our district goal is to have all our current 6th graders receive the immunization by May 25 this year.  The Tdap booster is meant to protect your child from the recent outbreak of whooping cough (which can be a very serious illness), as well as tetanus and diphtheria.  Visit our Health and Wellness page for more information.  Parents may inquire at the Health Office about limited exemptions.

Parents, please bring your current 6th grader's up-to-date immunization record (including Tdap verification) to the Chaparral Health Office by May 25, 2012.

 CURRENT API SCORES RELEASED
