AVID is an in-school academic support program for grades 8-12 that prepares students for college eligibility and success. AVID places academically average students in advanced courses with the support of the AVID elective class. AVID students must have the desire to:
- set goals
- want to learn about college and career options
- enjoy working with other students
- are motivated and responsible
- want to be surrounded by peers with similar academic goals
- receive support for academic classes
- challenge themselves with college prep., honors and AP classes
Due to the fact that AVID is an elective class, students must fill out an application and be interviewed by the AVID Site Team before enrolling in the AVID program. The Application for Moorpark High School is attached. The application should be turned in to Manuela Twitchell, AVID Counselor at Moorpark High School. You may obtain the application for the 8th grade AVID elective from the counseling department at Mesa Verde Middle School.
